Meet the Organizers

of the Cambridge-Somerville Asian Festival

The organizers of the Cambridge-Somerville Asian Festival are a collaboration between the Cambridge Families of Asian Descent (CFAD), Somerville Asian and Asian American Family Network (SAAAFN), Pan Asian Club at CRLS (PAC), Asian Educators Resource Groups (Asian ERG) and SomerViva Office of Immigrant Affairs (SOIA), rallying together the voices of Cambridge and Somerville families, students and educators. Collectively, we bring event management experience in several different spheres, including television production, community advocacy and education.

CFAD is a group of Cambridge parents/caregivers of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and multi-racial Asian heritage centered on forming social connections and advocating around increasing visibility of Asian-Americans in the school curriculum and community.

SAAAFN is a group of Somerville families with children of Asian descent. Our mission is to develop social connections, amplify marginalized voices in our community, and advocate for increased Asian and Asian American visibility in the Somerville Public School curriculum.

SOIA is here to enhance the well-being and equity of our immigrant and multilingual neighbors. SOIA provides multilingual and culturally competent programs, services, and policies that aim to facilitate the successful inclusion of Somerville’s immigrant residents and workers in the City’s civic, economic, and cultural life.
