In Brave New World (1980) there are many ways for residents of the World State to communicate with each other. These communications consist of Telefeelies, Telecals, and personal files representing how perfect of a mindless drone you can be.
TeleFeelies are very similar to Televisions of our world where they have documentaries and can display images. Their documentaries, called docujingles, are heavily censored as they are not allowed to enforce any ideas. We see this with Helmholtz Watson, who loves poetry and creating docujingles, however these docujingles are often censored by Mustapha Mond, as he believes the jingle is too dangerous to be seen by lower castes. Mond believes Helmholtz's jingles would put a lot of ideas into the minds of those who do not need them, such as the nature nausea training being required, other wise we would like nature. Helmholtz wants the docujingle to showcase the recent improvements in nature nausea training, however this implies that to improve means the World state is not perfect. The telefeelie will also play shows that are deterrent series and syntho religious programs. TeleFeelies also display images of artificial landscapes with artificial sound being dispensed in. The artificial landscapes allow residents of the world state to enjoy the unfiltered artificial nature instead of having to deal with real nature that they have been conditioned to believe to be evil. The telefeelies allows for the World State to mentally condition those with docujingles meant to enforce their ideas.
The telecals are a much more simple communication network, as these telecalls are very similar to phone calls in which they can communicate with anyone in the World State or if needed to they can communicate to those outside of the World State in the savage reservation as seen with Bernard Marx calling the World State leader Mustapha and how he found an intelligent savage, John Savage and how he has a mother who had previously been with the World State. This telecal allows for Bernard to return back to the World State with the Savage and his mother. One of the most important forms of communications used in the World State is the personal file system that allows overseers to track anyone for any societal blemish such as engaging with only one woman or not engaging as much as they should. These personal records allow for surveillance of the World State to see if anyone has any free thoughts and what type of reeducation they might need. The personal file system is seen when both Thomas Grambell and Bernard Marx wanted to go to the savage retreat as the personal files were used in order to assess if they were suitable to go to the savage retreat. The personal file system is used to monitor the residents and any imperfections they have as the personal file system was used in an attempt to relocate Bernard to Iceland as he seemed to not only engage with one woman, he also was seen alone on multiple occasions and refused syntho sex orgys. These moral blemishes went on his personal record and were used by Thomas Grambell in attempts to send Marx to Iceland. The Network communications all had a function passed to them via the World State as to not only help them communicate with one another but to also watch over and influence their mind.
