Privacy in Brave New World (1980) is hard to find as it seems everyone knows everything about everyone, this is due to the elaborate network of social communications and personal files designed to report any abnormal behaviors.
Brave New World showcases a simple caste system from alphas to epsilons. This system was created via genetic engineering, and this caste system is broken down everyday as the World State has created a societal norm of engaging anyone, as if anybody has anybody then no one can have no body so everybody will be happy. This idea allows for alphas to engage with betas, and so on. The elaborate network of engagement created via the societal engineering and conditioning of people via technological conditioning or reeducation lead to an elaborate interwoven network that allows for information to make its way around social circles and will find its way to whoever needs to hear it, we see this during the movie when both Helmholtz and Thomas both engage with the same female. Thomas would later tell her about his plan to relocate Bernard to Iceland. We then get to see the elaborate network later that very night, as we see Helmholtz learn about this plan and he decides to let Bernard know. This network of engagement sees people engaging with so many others that secrets are hard to hide as information will eventually find people who will act upon hearing such news. This network created by the World State helps them hear all; showcasing how you have no private information away from the government.
The Government also keeps track of personal records and any immoral acts such as having ideas of love, these files are then circuit checked in order to collect all available data about one person, after these personal files can be used for virtual vacations or to see if a resident has the ability to go to the savage reservation for vacation. We can see this before Thomas can go to the savage reservation, as his personal file is reviewed via Mustapha to see if he is a viable fit for the reservation and that he won't have to be reeducated upon return. We see how the government has access to these files, as just like Thomas, Bernard is sent to the savage reservation because of his personal file and in hopes that being sent to the savage reservation will showcase a socially adaptable mutation, as he is genetically modified. These attributes showcase that there is no Government privacy, as all the information on all the citizens are known by the World State. The government impacts the people's privacy in a Brave New World as they are the ones who designate what role in the caste system you are in. This feels like the government has a large impact on people's lives, and invades personal privacy by genetically creating their lives.
