Intellectual property does not play a major role in the episode of Black Mirror. Though the main focus of the episode revolves around a YouTube video, the plot focuses much more on the societal reactions than on the legality of the intellectual property. There is a slight reference to intellectual property in regards to the government attempting to restrict the possession and distribution of the video, but that is more government and privacy rather than intellectual property. The intent when restricting the possension and distribution is for the government to try to forget about what happened, rather than trying to give proper credit to the creator of the video. Overall, intellectual property is not a main focus but it does show up slightly in the government attempting to restrict the distribution and possension of the ransom video.Â
