This group aims to improve education through the use of computer science technologies and approaches. It also aims to address the challenge of how to effectively educate the next generation of computer scientists and software developers. This work includes aspects of how far technologies – from the internet, to adaptive learning systems, to AI – can help to improve education, for computing and other disciplines. We are exploring how appropriate technology can aid in improving education. We also explore how computing techniques – such as gamification – can be applied to improve outcomes, through improved student engagement and attainment.
A recent focus has been on generative AI and education, the opportunities and challenges this creates.
