🚢 10 Things Cruisers
Regret Buying on a Cruise

🚢 10 Things Cruisers Regret Buying on a Cruise

  1. Expensive jewelry

    • Great deals do exist, but many impulse purchases end up sitting in a drawer after the cruise.

  2. Artwork from onboard auctions

    • The "free champagne" auctions can be fun, but framing, shipping, and resale value often disappoint buyers.

  3. Luxury watches without researching prices

    • Some are good buys, but many can be found for the same price—or less—back home.

  4. Oversized souvenirs

    • Large decorations, sculptures, and fragile items can be difficult (and expensive) to get home safely.

  5. Duty-free liquor (when you won't actually save money)

    • Compare prices before buying. Local warehouse stores or airport sales are sometimes cheaper.

  6. Unlimited internet after only needing occasional access

    • Many people realize they only needed Wi-Fi for messaging or one or two check-ins.

  7. Professional photos you don't absolutely love

    • It's easy to spend hundreds of dollars because the pictures look amazing in the gallery.

  8. Spa products after the sales presentation

    • The treatment may be wonderful, but the skincare products often cost several hundred dollars.

  9. Thermal Spa Pass (for some travelers)

    • If you only visit once or twice, the pass may not be worth the cost. It's often a better value on sea days or longer cruises if you know you'll use it frequently.

  10. Duty-free cigarettes or perfume without checking limits

  • Customs allowances and local prices can make these purchases less of a bargain than expected.

💡 Better Things to Spend Your Money On

  • Specialty dining

  • Shore excursions

  • Drink packages (if they fit your habits)

  • Casino for future offers

  • Future Cruise Credit for bonus offers (when it makes financial sense)

  • Memories and experiences instead of impulse shopping
