About
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
For 22 years, our mission has been the same: walking in love with people in need. We've spent the last two decades helping meet the needs of our community by providing everything from grocery essentials, warm jackets, school supplies, and Christmas gifts. But the most important thing we provide is a place where every person is welcomed, every person is loved, and every person comes away with an understanding of how much God loves them.

OUR HISTORY
In late 1999, a small group of people, whose lives had been transformed by God’s love, came together with a single mission: to extend the love of God to those living on the fringes of society. Put simply, walking in love with people in need. The name CrossStreets was chosen to reflect the goal of taking the hope of a new life in Jesus to people living on the streets.
What started as a New Year's Eve dinner for 50 people living on the streets of Hayward evolved into ongoing, church-based outreaches to the unsheltered community in the East Bay—including everything from hot meals, showers, and special events to opportunities for continual relationship-building and spiritual transformation. Then in 2012, the team began looking for additional ways to bring the Gospel to people in need in the community.
This launched a whole new aspect of CrossStreets including providing school supplies and Christmas gifts to low-income families and running a food pantry to connect those with very few resources to essential groceries. CrossStreets became a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation in 2014, which enabled partnerships with government and other local organizations outside the church. This opened the door to becoming a food distribution agency with the Alameda County Community Food Bank and Family Giving Tree, allowing CrossStreets to serve even more people in our community.
At the end of 2020, CrossStreets embarked on its next chapter, moving from a church-sponsored ministry to a fully independent organization. We're currently partnering with local churches and community-based organizations to bring the hope of Christ to our neighbors.
