All about Crossroads!

Crossroads Education Program is an opportunity for students to receive a traditional high school diploma by passing one or more of the GED battery of tests. The diversity of the program allows for the instruction of standards based, academic skills, intertwined with strategies targeted to meet the individual needs of the students.

The Crossroads Education Program is not an alternative option to school. The program's structure is designed for students to work at his or her own pace in an environment that encourages students to challenge themselves in a smaller learning environment. Students are here to improve their overall academic skills through a strength-based model and personalized approach. Candidates must display a desire to take ownership of his/her learning, and demonstrate follow through on daily goals. The Crossroads staff expect students to know and work their academic plan. The length of time for completion depends upon the motivation of the student.

Ms. Bentheimer

Coordinator/ Lead Teacher

My name is Stephanie Bentheimer. I am the lead Crossroads Teacher; the alternative education program that works with students from Johnson Creek and Lake Mills. This is my 14th year as an educator, and all of my experience is in alternative education assisting students at-risk of not graduating from high school.

I have a bachelor's degree from Edgewood College, and I am licensed to teach history, social studies. My passion has always been with alternative education. Prior to this role, I taught for 8 years at an alternative high school in West Allis, coordinated transition services for students with special needs in Jefferson and Dane County, piloted a Youth Apprenticeship program in Madison Wisconsin, and lead the GED program in Watertown. I am also in the middle of graduate work for school counseling with Concordia University.

I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, boxing, biking, painting, reading, and music!
