Badges
How does getting badges work....?
We run a varied program and most sessions have activities that count for one or more badges. We make sure we have several opportunities to get the the credit for badges however some events count like St Georges Day and Remembrance Day parades and Beaver Camp collect lots of credits for several badges.
If a Beaver attends regularly, comes to the parades and one camp they should get all the Challenge Awards and therefore the Chief Scouts Bronze Award.
There a several types of badges:
Achieving a Challenge Award involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Colony or community.
These Awards support the main themes of the Programme; outdoor and adventure; world and skills. Beavers take part in a range of activities to develop their skills and understanding in each of the challenge areas.
If a beaver gets all 6 challenge badges they get the Cheif Scouts Bronze award which is the highest badge a beaver can get - they can ware this on the cub uniform.
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Beaver Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.
Staged Activity Badges are available to young people from Beavers to Explorers, and cover a range of topics and skills. The stages have increasing levels of difficulty, and a Beaver can begin at whichever stage offers them an appropriate level of challenge.
These badges are transferable up through cubs and scouts
In addition, there are a number of core badges, obtained upon joining or moving on from the Colony, or for time spent in the Scouting movement.
