Report of the Annual General Body Meeting 2023

The Annual General Body Meeting of the CRI Local Unit Varanasi was held on 03 September 2023, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at Nav Sadhana the Regional Pastoral Centre.

The resource person for the day was Dr. Alka Singh, Principal of Vasantha College for Women BHU, and she enlightened, the gathering, on the topic:  Cultural Sensitivity and Social Justice in the Indian Context.

Sr. Benedicta SRA, CRI URU Region Secretary, explained the duties of the CRI Local Unit and Zone. Sr. Veena SHM read the norms of election for the office bearers. They conducted the election for the office bearers.

Fr. Anuroop IMS was elected, the President, and Sr. Arpita OLP, the Vice-President. Sr. Ashly SAP and Sr. Lynette CJ continue, as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. There were 125 participants from Varanasi, Ghazipur, Mau, and Ballia Zones. The secretaries of each Zone presented their reports. Fr. Jayant IMS updated us, regarding the follow-up of the previous meeting of CRI Varanasi, and the Forum of Religious, for Justice and Peace on ethnic violence in Manipur. It was followed by lunch break and then a group discussion.

The Annual Body Meeting concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Rt. Rev. Bishop Eugene Joseph, the Bishop of Varanasi. We are grateful to Bishop Eugene for his generous contribution to the CRI for the day’s program.
