The conference is organized by the group CRITTOGRAFIA E CODICI (Italian Mathematical Union) and it will take place in Palazzo Innovazione (Largo Abate Conforti, 84121 Salerno SA) Salerno, Italy on September 5 - 6, 2024.  

OVERVIEW 

IT services are increasingly pervasive in the society and convey most of the data that are stored and processed through individuals, businesses and administrations. As a result, in all related aspects, security  has become an essential requirement. Science responds to this demand with several disciplines that investigate technological and theoretical aspects of security.

Cryptography and Coding theory are fields of study and research, which find wide application in this area and which receive a lot of attention in this historical period. They also have a transversal character in various fields of mathematics, which range from algebra to geometry, to number theory, to algorithm theory, to block and stream ciphers theory and involve their computational aspects.

The conference aims to provide an opportunity for researchers working on mathematical aspects of cryptography and coding theory to share their research interests. Furthermore industries will join the conference in order to enlighten how codes and cryptographic systems play a crucial role in the technologies underlying the current information society. Finally teachers will also be involved in the conference to share ideas and suggestions on teaching activities and mathematics laboratories on coding theory and cryptography aimed at students.

CONFERENCE TALKS SUBMISSION

All participants who wish to contribute with a 15 - 20 minute talk are invited to submit a 1 page abstract that summarizes their work in PDF format before July 31, 2024. More details will follow soon.

Three types of contributions will be considered 

1. Research talks. We invite participants to submit surveys or original research contributions regarding cryptography and coding theory, with emphasis on mathematical aspects. The original contributions should be either unpublished or published after January 1, 2021.

2. Industrial talks. We welcome presentations on industrial projects involving cryptography and coding theory emphasizing applications such as use cases, implementation constraints and future developments. The talks related to these contributions will be proposed in a hybrid mode, allowing remote presentations only to professionals living and working abroad.

3. Educational talks. We also invite to submit talks regarding activities and proposals on educational aspects of mathematics related to cryptography and coding theory. The talks related to these contributions will be proposed in hybrid modality. With the eventuality that some teachers may participate in the classroom, however, we will ask those proposing a contribution to present it in person. Based on the funds available, we reserve the right to reimburse travel and/or overnight stays for speakers who need them.

Research abstracts will be subject to a blind review process for acceptance. Other types of abstracts will be checked by the advisory board to be within the scope of the conference.

Research talks will be given in English. Industrial and educational talks will be given either in English or Italian.  Abstracts have to be written accordingly.
