Medicine Critical Care
A joint agreement with ABEM & ABIM allows EM-trained physicians who complete an IM-CCM fellowship to sit for CCM board certification. After board certification, the EM physician will be a board-certified medical intensivist.
Duration: 2 years
Board Certification: ABIM-ABEM
Prerequisite Rotations: ABIM requires 6 months of direct patient care experience in internal medicine (> 3 in MICU) for ED residents. However, these do not need to be achieved during residency and many programs allow you to count your fellowship time towards this. Most PDs will not consider anyone with less than 4 months of internal medicine/MICU experience.
LOR: One from PD, another strongly recommended to be from the ICU chair/director
Match: ERAS (some outside the match)
