Residents will meet monthly for resident & mentor-led lectures on critical care topics of interest
SimMan, live tissue, and animal simulation labs focusing on high acuity, low opportunity critical care procedures will be held semi-annually.
Michigan State University COM Statewide Campus System
MSU SCS Fundamentals of Critical Care Course
MSU SCS Trauma Procedures Course
MSU SCS Advanced Ventilator Management Course
Advanced Ultrasound with Dr. Betcher
A semi-annual critical appraisal of critical care evidence-based medicine topics
Mentors will be essential to help answer questions about career paths, participate as guest instructors, provide knowledgable didactic curricula, and recruit residents to participate in critical care research.
Critical care track residents will be allowed to attend one local, regional, or national critical care conference during the track to allow exploration of the latest critical care knowledge and research, as well as to encourage networking for fellowship or future employment.
Residents are encouraged to present their critical care scholarly activity at this conference.
Funding to be provided, on a case-by-case basis for those pursuing a critical care fellowship or presenting research, from WMEMR education fund. Participating residents will be eligible for a 2 shift reduction.
Critical Care Track residents will incorporate critical care-specific scholarly activity into current residency research and quality assurance curriculum. This will also count towards the residency research requirement.
