Hagen throws CG in varsity debut, Albeck and Kliber run rampant at the plate, on the bases
Box Score 5/5/2023
Maple Grove 6, Duluth East 2
Sam Hagen made his varsity debut one to remember. Hagen mostly silenced the Grayhound bats, giving up two runs (both unearned) on four hits and one walk, while striking out six and picking up a complete game victory for the Crimson. Maple Grove's bats were silent for the first three innings themselves before Sam Kliber led off the bottom of the fourth with a hard single to left, stole second AND third, and then scored on Hunter Gerber's ground out. Tanner Albeck followed with a triple and scored soon afterward on a wild pitch.
The Crimson allowed one unearned in the top of the fifth, but decided they liked scoring two runs so much that they repreated the effort in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth. Kliber and Albeck led Maple Grove with two for three nights at the plate. Kliber grabbed three stolen basess, and Albeck added his first home run to go along with his triple. Brady Aubut debuted at the varsity plate with a double and a run scored.
