Champlin Park puts up an 8-spot in the fourth to beat the Crimson
Box Score 5/1/2023
Champlin Park 8, Maple Grove 1
Andrew Rakow started on the mound for CP and earned the victory, pitching five innings and allowing two hits and no runs. Vann Olson got the start for MG and matched him for the first three innings before exiting in the fourth after giving up a hit and a walk. Olson's final line: 3IP, 4H, 2ER. Champlin Park followed the hit and the walk in the fourth with three more walks, two more singles, a double, and a home run (not in that order) to produce a total of eight runs - more than enough to keep the Grove at bay for the night. Brody Berglin eventually entered the contest to squash some of the Rebels offense, finishing the night with a final line of 2 2/3 IP, 3H, 1ER, 0BB, 8K.
The Crimson offense had runners on base (and in scoring position) in the first, third, fourth, and sixth, but could produce a lone run in the sixth. Connor Wihlm singled to lead off the inning; Tanner Albeck followed with a double, Cayden Vokal walked, and Connor Schmidt followed with a sacrifice flie to score courtesy runner Preston Berg. Kaden Harney also doubled for MG on the night, but the Crimson came up far too short overall, falling 8-1 to the Rebels.
