The search feature is a powerful tool for finding places around the world. By using the search tool you are able to dig deeper into the abundance of resources found in the New Google Earth.
To use the search feature click on the magnifying glass in the left hand panel. As you begin to type your search entries will appear in the drop down. Select an entry from the drop down list or hit enter to search. If your search identifies a specific place in the world, you will fly there. If there are multiple possibilities, you will see a list appear below the search cell. With a search selection made, you will fly to the location. You now how several options.
The search panel will extend out into your earth view once you have clicked on it. To minimize the search panel, click on the back arrow in the top left of the search panel.
Once you are at your search location you will notice a panel on the right. From here you can do many things. If you click on the image it will open a new window with imagery of the search area. You can click through the imagery carousel by clicking on the left or right arrows. Each of the images has a "Fly To" icon (blue circle with paper airplane) that allows you to click on it and it will take you back to Google Earth and to the specific location where the image was taken. To return to your earth view click on the arrow in the top left of the screen.
You will also notice a "Bookmark" icon in the bottom left of the pop-up panel. This will allow you to save the location to your bookmarks library. Each time you click on the bookmark icon it adds a new entry into your library.
Also notice at the bottom of the pop-up panel there is a "Places within..." panel. If you click on this panel Google Earth will take you to places that are found within the same area you searched.
