Google Earth has several different settings you can tweak to get the look and feel you want. The "Menu" panel gives you the power to turn different features on and off.
The menu panel is where you can turn on and off features to suit your needs. Each section within the panel has different tools you can toggle. The first thing you will want to do is login so all of your data is saved.
Notice you can access Search, Voyager, and My Places from the menu as well.
The first feature "Map Style" gives you the ability to change the look and feel of your map. From this sub-panel we can change the type of map we want. In this menu you have three choices for map, Clean, Exploration, and Everything. As you go from the first to the last you will note the number of information points increases. You will need to decide, based on your own needs, what type of map you want to start with. You may also choose a "Custom" map where you have the ability to turn off certain layers of information.
You can also tweak some of the settings from the Menu sub-panel. From here you can set the fly in animation speed and the units of measurement. You can also set your memory cache size making details appear faster. The last item, Enable KML Import, will need to be enabled if you want to import KML files into the New Google Earth.
