Our camp is an all-girls riding camp focused on empowering young girls to find their voice through working with horses.
Campers are assigned their own horse for the week. They share in the care of the horse with a partner. Campers learn to be responsible for the daily care, grooming, and well-being of “their horse”.
No prior riding experience is necessary and the campers are divided into riding groups based on their riding skill level. Beginners receive a good foundation from which to continue their riding experience if they choose to and more advanced riders have the opportunity to improve their skills.
Camp horses and ponies are well-schooled animals that are used in our year-round lesson program.
Our camp is targeted to youths (6-12 years old), and introduces young riders to the fundamentals of riding, horse care, and horse safety in a fun and informative way!
We strive to teach all of our campers the basics of horsemanship. Campers participate in daily riding and also learn how to safely work with horses on the ground, equine anatomy, equipment care, nutrition—and so much more! When riding we make sure that all campers learn how to control their own horse and not just follow in line. We do this through fun games and exercises, with assistance where needed. Our campers are led by adult supervisors who love kids, horses, and having fun!
When not around the horses, campers enjoy arts & crafts, and outdoor games.
Interacting with horses also teaches us about ourselves. Self-respect, respect for others, curiosity, clarity in communication—all are natural “ways of being” for these very special animals. Add in each horse’s unique personality, preferences, and willingness to partner with humans and you begin to see why they have so much to offer our young riders.
