Decimal: a point that separates whole numbers from fractions

Patterns: a rule that is followed by numbers
Tenths: 1/10 OR 0.1 ; the position directly to the right of the decimal
Hundredths: 1/100 OR 0.01 ; the position two spots to the right of the decimal
Thousandths: 1/1000 OR 0.001 ; the position three spots to the right of the decimal
Thousands: 1,000 the spot four spaces to the left of the decimal
