Please note that our fetal ultrasound services do not include general health issues during pregnancy. You can still visit your general practitioner for that. If your general practitioner is Dr. Zogo, his consultation fees do not include the ultrasound scan.
We bill our patient per fetus; multiple pregnancies are double/triple charged depending on the number of fetuses. We do spend the same amount of time on each Embryo/fetus, thus the price difference.
Unscheduled patients pay additional unbooked visit fees.
A Dating Scan is an ultrasound scan to determine how many weeks pregnant you are and your estimated delivery date.
A dating scan might be recommended before 12 weeks to confirm your due date if you are unsure of your last menstrual period or your date of conception. The pregnant mother needs to be at least 6 weeks pregnant to allow visualization of the Embryo.
A Dating Scan can also be performed later in pregnancy if the pregnant woman never had a scan before.
Ultrasound can determine the fetal gender at the beginning of the 2nd Trimester. At CMP, we recommend the fetal gender Scan from 16 weeks to increase the accuracy of the result. Please note that no fetal measurement will be recorded during this Scan as this is exclusively a fetal gender scan.
PLEASE NOTE: Baby must cooperate. If we cannot obtain gender during your session we will invite you back 1 more time free of charge. Full gender session must be paid on the first appointment.
This scan is best done between 20- 23 weeks of pregnancy. This is a detailed ultrasound examination of the fetus. During this scan, there will be searches for “markers” or “soft signs” pointing to a possible chromosomal abnormality.
A “marker” is not necessarily a fetal defect; it is an indication of a possible abnormality. Approximately 40 % of all Down’s syndrome fetuses will have physical signs that may be recognized on an ultrasound scan. However, the detail scan will also diagnose between 60-80 % of all other (non-chromosomal) structural fetal abnormalities.
Also, Known as third-trimester growth scan. It is carried out between 26 and 40 weeks of pregnancy.
This scan is used to evaluate the baby's growth by measuring the abdominal circumference, the head, and the upper leg of the baby in order to estimate the weight and compare these measurements to those made during previous scans.
Depending on the fetal and maternal conditions, the amniotic fluid index and the blood flow between the placenta and the baby are often assessed.
CMP offers this scan between 36-40 weeks. This scan mainly assesses the baby's position before birth, amniotic fluid, and placenta location.
A transvaginal ultrasound can be performed in case of placenta previa (meaning the placenta covering or near the internal cervical os).
Measurement of the baby's head, tummy and leg can be done to estimate the weight.
Three-dimensional ultrasound uses image volume data acquisition. It builds on the fundamentals of 2D in which sounds wave create reflections from different angles to each other. Three-dimensional technology is used to obtain a life-like view of the baby. It shows the baby in finite details.
4D is the 3D with the addition of real-time; meaning while the ultrasound is being performed, the baby is being watched live/ moving.
IMPORTANT NOTE: to maximize the chances of obtaining good 3D/4D images, the pregnant mother needs to drink sufficient water 3-4 days prior to the appointment to increase the quality and clarity of the amniotic fluid.
