In fact, creativity is hard to define. It is necessary to look at creativity from various perspectives.
"Creativity is the ability to transcend traditional ways of thinking or acting, and to develop new and original ideas, methods or objects."
- Kelly Morr
Creativity is not only developing new and novel ideas, methods, and objects. Creativity can appear in daily life.
Kaufman and Beghetto determine the "Four C" model of creativity. It involved several aspects of creativity.
Mini-C: Personal - learning new skills (e.g. guitar, piano)
Little-C: Everyday Problem - the ability to slove and creative expression (e.g. writing poem)
Pro-C: Professional Acts - professional creation/projects (e.g. piano player at a regional festival)
Big-C: Substaninal - legdency in a certain domain/genre (e.g. the discovery of penicillin)
People are experiencing the following stages during the creative process
Graham Wallas - Five Stages of creative Stages
Preparation: the dimension of the problem is explored
Incubation: inner issue, no outer sign to show the problem is being addressed
Intimation: a sense that the problem can be forthcoming
illumination: idea become evident
Verification: the idea is tested and applied
There are several processes to help people develop creativity. People need to be good at finding and formulating problems. Students need to think differently from others for the same or similar things or projects which means learners need to ask themselves some quality questions. They can develop their ideas based on their questions. Learners need to have enough knowledge related to the topic or questions. Study level can directly affect creativity. Apart from that, learners should collect a broad range of potentially related information. Learners can connect their potentially related information with their knowledge in order to generate several ideas to address the questions asked before. They need to combine those ideas in unexpected ways which can be considered as producing creativity. People can share their projects to peers in order to get assessment and feedback. They can improve their works based on their suggestions.
