As we continue to process the world both globally and locally, it is time to understand that the first step to being able to understand someone else’s perspective is to understand your own. Let's spend some time thinking about our own mindsets to think differently about teaching and learning regarding what we can change about ourselves. This session wille explore the four roles of educators, 5 E's to consider along with the difference between a playpen vs. a playground, and see some of the invisible barriers holding us back.

Where can I see this work?
Education is hard. In order to reach deeper learning with our students and adults involved in the system, we must embrace the journey that we cannot do the work alone. How do we push the growth edges of authentic learning experiences in the classroom? Discover how this work is possible by examining the 6 A's to reflect on current learning conditions. Additionaly, examples of classrooms engaged in collaborative, rigorous, authentic work, while continuously weaving the content standards, universal constructs, and social-emotional competencies together will be shared. This session will provide time to explore projects and deeper learning examples for collective dialogue and have you walking away with at least one idea to take back and figure out how to infuse.

Create a 90 Second Pitch On Why Authentic Learning Matters
How do we change the narrative and pressure in our minds of what we supposed to be teaching? How do we move from activities to deeper authentic learning experiences? Let’s rewind our boombox and change the tune to our teaching for students by exploring some thought nuggets. This session will have participants working to create their 90 second elevator pitch for why authentic work matters using soundbites and resources to craft their vision. Let's put our thoughts together using a storyboard and have our voices heard!

This session will focus on getting started. It is designed to help someone new to Minecraft Education learn how to open a new world and navigate all that Minecraft Education has to offer. Come ready to be engaged in a hands-on learning experience that will leave you with the foundation skills needed to take the next steps to classroom implementation.
