Career Awareness and Preparation
The Partnership for Career Development (PCD)'s work as a regional business-education partnership intermediary was initially developed from the 1994 Schools to Work Federal legislation, and the subsequent development of 55 intermediaries in PA to assist with this important work. PCD is among a small handful that remain active today.
PCD sat the table during the development of the PA Department of Education's Career Education and Work Standards, K-12 Guidance Plan (339 Plan), and PA's Future-Ready Index.
PCD's ongoing dedication to its mission has been recognized by PDE, L&I, and DCED through grant awards. PCD provides consortium networks, resources, and services to schools (educators and students), businesses, and communities.
PCD’s longstanding history provides the organization the unique advantage of being a sounding board to and advocate for stakeholders in all “sectors”. From this solid foundation the C-to-C White Paper developed, which led to furthering the Alliance, initially launched prior to the pandemic. Since that time, it has gathered voice, energy, and greater understanding of its urgency.
Thanks to the support of a PA Smart Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the 2023 convening of Cradle to Career will bring existing and new partners to the table to help realize prior goals, assess and consider new ones, and work to create new sector goals.
