How do frogs develop
To begin with this is an explanation text about the life cycle of a frog. Did you know that frogs are amphibians? There are 4 developmental stages for a frog:
· eggs-this is the start of the life cycle;
· tadpole-developing arms and legs;
· froglet-growing into a frog;

What do frog eggs look like?
Frog eggs –which can also be called frogspawn-are oval shaped eggs that are clear. Did you know that a female frog lays 4000 eggs at a time? The eggs take 6-12 days to hatch. They are laid in ponds or streams in the summer so that predators can’t eat them.
What is a tadpole?
A tadpole is a fish like creature with gills. Did you know that a bull frog tadpole can grow as long as a banana? Also poison-dart tadpoles ride on their mum’s back so they won’t be eaten by a predator. Another name for a tadpole is a polliwog
What is a froglet?
A froglet is a tadpole except it has arms and legs but no tail. Did you know that the eastern common froglet only grows to 3cm long? The froglet takes 9-12 weeks to become a frog. As the tadpole becomes a froglet its tail shrinks and it’s arms and legs grow.
What is a frog?
Frogs are members of the zoological class called amphibians. Amphibians, which are cold blooded [or polithermic] vertebrate animals. Did you know that there are 7000 species of frog? Frogs live in fresh water and on dry land also some species are known to live under ground or in trees!
To conclude, frogs are threatened with extinction because federal wildlife scientists have recently discovered that 11.6% more frogs are dying. There are 4 stages of a frogs life cycle: eggs; tadpole; froglet and frog. Did you know frogs don’t drink water, they soak it through their skin?
