Some ways I support schools are:

• Assisting school library staff with their mission to provide library services for students and teachers.

• Visiting classrooms to promote the digital library collection; SORA.

• Creating booklists, book suggestions, and reader’s advisory.

The integration of technology in the classroom and ethical citizenship in the digital age 

Some ways I support schools are: 

• Helping teachers find appropriate technology based on pedagogical intentions. 

• Directing school teams to appropriate professional development related to the purposeful integration of technology in the classroom. 

Examples of support: 

• Accompanying a teacher team in finding and integrating technology meaningfully in an existing lesson. 

• Co-planning and modelling a lesson tackling an issue related to ethical citizenship in the digital age.

Mathematics and Science & Technology instruction at the elementary and secondary level.

Some ways I support schools are:

• By accompanying school teams with the development and implementation of numeracy goals.

• By assisting school teams with collecting and interpreting assessment information in order to make instructional decisions that will improve student success.

Ce que je peux faire pour soutenir les équipes écoles:

• Répondre à leurs interrogations et explorer avec elles de nouvelles approches et outils pédagogiques pour la salle de classe.

• Promouvoir par différents moyens la collaboration entre les enseignants sur des thématiques propres à l’enseignement du français.

Quelques exemples de soutien:

• Réfléchir aux côtés des enseignants à certaines impasses ou problématiques encourues et les accompagner dans la recherche de solutions (observations, entretiens, accompagnement en classe, formations).

• Proposer différentes avenues (selon préférences exprimées)  permettant aux enseignants de se développer dans un domaine d’expertise en FLS/FLE.

• Explore with teachers different teaching methods and evaluation means for students with various needs

• Accompanying school teams in creating and providing individualized support for our Indigenous students

• Connecting families and schools with resources in their communities

• Creating a needs assessment of our schools and school board to promote a culture of awareness and social justice

Examples of support  

• Collaborating with families and multidisciplinary school teams in creating IEPs which have culturally relevant goals and support

• Help with submitting applications for additional funding through Jordan's Principle or the Inuit Children First Initiative

• Working with teachers and school staff on how to incorporate the experiences and perspective of Indigenous People in the classroom

• Explore best teaching practices and their integration to connect students to learning

• Discuss available arts experiences and resources

Examples of support:

• Co-build a game plan with a school team for arts and cultural opportunities

• Connect teachers in kindergarten with model classes to visit 

• Coordinating arts learning opportunities such as the CQSB Performing Arts Festival (PAF) and the CQSB PIX Photo Contest

• Planning with key documents (Progression of Learning, Evaluation Frameworks, etc.)

• Exploring best teaching practices through modeling, co-planning, classroom visits, conferencing, etc.

Providing support to schools and families of homeschooled students.

Some ways I support schools/families are: 

• Answering questions or concerns regarding school materials (textbooks, workbooks, etc.) they may need for different grade/subject levels.

• Facilitate the use of learning spaces they might wish to have access to (science lab, library, art room, gym, etc.).

• Guide the families about the evaluation requirements and timeframe.

• Provide support with upcoming exams (MEQ uniform exams and/or exams mandated by the school board).
