5 Year Construction Plan

QUICK FACTS

Cranston Public Schools’ five-year plan was voted on and approved in November 2020.

The comprehensive plan allocates $133 million for five major construction projects at five different CPS schools, as well as an additional $14 million to cover any reimbursable projects in other buildings which may need to be completed during this time.

The schools slated for this work during these five years are: Garden City Elementary School, Gladstone Elementary School, Park View Middle School, Cranston High School West and Eden Park Elementary School.

The district’s five-year plan capitalizes on the state’s generous reimbursement terms for all qualifying projects, allowing the city of Cranston to receive between 54 and 74 percent of the costs back, allowing major projects to be completed for a fraction of the cost.

The first project, Garden City Elementary School will begin at the close of the 2020-21 school year. The additional projects will continue to be phased in over time during the next four years.

The construction delivery method is expected to be Construction Manager at Risk.

All of the projects in this plan which are reimbursable from the RI Dept. of Education are anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2025.

The city of Cranston is forming a building committee team and regular public meetings will be held. Please check the website often for new information and updates.
