CPS provides facilities and services for the assessment of users’ clinical skills and for developing professional competencies. CPS offers instructors the opportunity to prepare students for a professional world under simulated situations before going into clinical practice settings. Technology allows instructors to record student practice and evaluation sessions followed by video-aided assessment of performance. Exam rooms provide access to standard supplies and equipment found in typical clinical settings. At the discretion of the director of simulation operations, additional equipment may be brought into or stored at the Center.
The Center’s priority is training students, residents, and staff. Simulation rooms are reserved for testing and teaching clinical skills, including critical event management and teamwork behaviors. Activities (such as meetings, lectures, and in-services) that can be conducted in a classroom and/or which do not test or teach clinical skills should not be scheduled at the CPS.
