Originally proposed by David A. Lubarsky, MD, then chair of the department of anesthesiology, CPS was established in 2003 to improve the quality of patient care at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami. Over the years, the Center has grown in staff, educational programs, and research projects. David Birnbach, MD, MPH, was CPS director in 2004-2020. He was succeeded by the current leadership team which includes:
