About us
CSIR–NEIST Centre for Petroleum Research was established in 2019 under the leadership of Dr. G Narahari Sastry, Director, CSIR-NEIST to conduct research in the areas of high relevance and importance and to address current issues in petroleum research and the oil sectors. Many oil industries have expressed strong interest in working with CSIR-NEIST and signed MoUs with almost all oil industries like NRL, OIL, APL, BCPL of NE region.
The Centre has about 25 scientists including 40 nos. of research staff working in different areas like Crude Oil Research, Waste to Wealth, Green and Sustainable Process for Value Addition, Polymer engineering for sustainable development, Membranes for Petroleum Research, Effluent Treatment and Characterization of Petroleum Product etc.
Objectives
Establish innovative testing and research infrastructure to address the issues and difficulties facing the petrochemical and oil industries.
Work proactively with the Oil, Petroleum, and Petrochemical Industries to identify issues that the CSIR may address in order to improve their processes and products.
By enlisting the technical, R&D, and logistical assistance of other CSIR institutes, CSIR-NEIST will coordinate the efforts in the NE petrochemical and oil sector.
Mission
Development of polymeric products, for sustainable development.
Environmental protection and water re-circulation are made possible by the development of polymeric membranes for waste water treatment.
Development of polymer additives for improving the flow of the crude.
For a constant supply of the petroleum and factors impacting the flow of the crude, disaster management and seismic hazard assessment can be focused.
