Reaching Uppsala from Arlanda Airport
Stockholm Arlanda Airport is located about halfway between Uppsala and Stockholm, and is 35 km south of Uppsala. It is the closest airport to Uppsala and the most convenient one to travel to and from.
By train
Trains leave Arlanda from Sky City in terminal 5 for Uppsala Central Station. The journey takes 15 to 20 minutes and costs around 200 SEK (approximately 18€). A ticket may be purchased in Sky City (see the operator links above) and is only valid for the chosen operator and departure time. Note that local commuter trains (by SL / UL) and national trains (by SJ) operate between Arlanda and Uppsala: make sure you enter the correct train as tickets are not valid for both operators and you will be fined.
When travelling back from Uppsala to Arlanda you have to pay an access fee for entering Arlanda. This can be paid either in advance when purchasing the ticket or when entering Arlanda.
By bus
Bus 801 by UL runs between Arlanda and the Uppsala central bus station twice every hour from about 4 am to about 2 am. You can find the schedule on the UL website and app. The journey takes about 42 minutes and costs 117 SEK (approximately 10€). You can pay by card, but not in cash, on the bus, and there are ticket machines at Arlanda terminals 2 and 5 (Quickomat).
By taxi
Taxis leave from outside the arrivals hall, where a dispatcher will help you, and the journey will take about 30 minutes. The maximum price within the marked zone is 800 SEK (for 1 to 4 passengers) and 1,275 SEK (for 5 to 8 passengers) to one address. Ask the driver before you start your trip what actual price is in effect. For travel outside the marked zone, the meter rate applies. You can pay by credit card or cash. For pre-booking with Taxi Kurir call +46 18 123456 or email order@ups.taxikurir.se and for pre-booking with Uppsala Taxi call +46 18 100000: the driver will wait for you in the hall after customs.
