Federico Fische is an experienced economist who has been practicing in the international development and private sector development fields for more than 30 years. Since the 1990s, he has concentrated on sustainable development, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change. For the past nine years, he has been working in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on supporting project development and investment mobilization.
Federico led the Clean Energy Finance Facility for the Caribbean and Central America, a grant program funded by USAID. This program supported over 20 private sector projects, leveraging over $800 million in potential investments. After his work with USAID, he became the Key Expert for Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region for the European Union Technical Assistance Facility for Sustainable Energy. During this time, he designed a blending finance mechanism for the Caribbean Region and an associated portfolio of potential investments. Subsequently, he served as the Regional Coordinator for the Private Financing Advisory Network for Latin America and the Caribbean. Under his leadership, over $40 million in private-sector investments were catalyzed.Â
Mr. Fische is currently leading the Caribbean Climate Investment Program, a $20 million initiative aimed at mobilizing investment in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate adaptation projects.
