Deputy Director, Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) & Chief Economist
Dillon Alleyne is the Deputy Director of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) sub regional Headquarters for the Caribbean based in Port of Spain.
He is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona and a former staff member of the Department of Economics, where he was elevated to Professor of Applied Economics.
He is has conducted research and published in the areas of public finance, taxation, the impact of remittances, labour markets and questions related to poverty.
Since joining ECLAC 14 years ago, he has spearheaded projects aimed at improvement fiscal management of Caribbean member states through expenditure reviews (PERs).
He has been involved in promoting ECLAC’s debt for climate adaptation swaps initiative to address the debt overhang of the Caribbean member states.
