How to stay ethical ...

  • Using photos: If you have taken the image yourself, you own the rights to it and can do what you want with it. If not, someone else owns the rights to use it. You are responsible for checking whether you are allowed to use it or not. Just because you found it for free online does not make it ethical to reuse!

  • Giving credit to creators and contributors: Please give credit to the original creators and contributors if these are included on the resources you use.

  • Understanding and using creative commons licensing: You can find a quick overview of difference licence types here.

Make your own version of this "Do the five" template

Dothefive

A template for translating the "Do the five resource" Open the file then click on the cog key ⚙️ then select "more" then select "download as a pptx" so you can edit it. See here for an example

Things to think about when translating into your language:

§ Some languages use the same word for both 'five' and 'hand'. So don't use the phrase "Do the five" if people might only focus on handwashing.

§ Does your language have a separate word for 'elbow'? What is the best way to refer to that part of the arm?

§ Does your language have separate words for face, eyes, mouth, nose? Which word(s) work best?

§ Does you language have a specific word for washing the hands (a verb that is different from washing other things like clothes)?

§ Is there a good way to describe the distance of 2 metres using a different cultural example that everyone will recognise?

§ Does that animation match the way you use your fingers to count?
