The development process for courses is an ongoing collaborative effort that takes place within a full development cycle, given that multiple courses are being developed within a cycle. The development cycle is broken down into six major phases: Onboarding, Design & Planning, Content Development, Avenue Integration, Testing, and Sign-off. The graphic below presents the breakdown of tasks that are completed within each phase.
Once course development is completed, the course is handed over to the Program Manager who initiates the term shell preparation process alongside the Program Associate. The Program Manager assumes the responsibility for the course operations including administration, scheduling and the hiring of instructors to teach the course.
In order to ensure successful completion of course development, all stakeholders must work together and complete tasks as scheduled. Failure to meet deadlines will affect the course launch date. The Development Team will inform the Associate Director if deadlines are missed, so that next steps can be determined. Continuing Education is committed to offer accessible education that respects copyrights regulations. Your learning materials must meet accessibility and copyright requirements.
An introductory/preparatory meeting takes place between the ID and SME before the course development process formally begins.
