Beautycounter’s Mission: Speaking Points
MISSION
Our mission is to get safer products in the hands of everyone
We are a mission-based company and a wellness brand with a bold ambition: to get safer beauty and personal care products into the hands of everyone.
We deliver on our mission in three ways
Creating and distributing safer & sustainable products
Educating consumers about the need for safer products
Advocating for more health-protective laws in the personal care industry.
We are a national movement for improved transparency and accountability in the beauty industry, including advocacy to update federal regulations that have stood largely unchanged since 1938.
We are proud to be a Certified B Corporation, which is a rigorous third-party certification that ensures a business equally considers people, the planet and profit.
We received a new and improved score of 97.7, which means we consider the people and the planet when creating our products.

We require 100% of our suppliers to adhere to 12 industry-leading safety standards to ensure our products are as safe as possible.
100% Ingredient transparency: Every formula ingredient, including known components of fragrances, flavors, and intentionally added preservatives, are listed on our product labels or on Beautycounter.com.

ADVOCACY
Since we launched in 2013, we have advocated and had 11 laws passed, including the 1st major federal update in cosmetics regulation since 1938.
The Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022: Because no major federal cosmetics law had passed in over 84 years!
Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act (CA): Because the biggest toxic offenders need to go
The Cosmetic Fragrance and Flavor Ingredient Right to Know Act (CA): take significant steps towards closing the “fragrance loophole”—which allows companies to keep their fragrance ingredients a secret.
Toxic-Free Cosmetic Act (MD): Because ingredients shouldn’t cause harm
Pollution Prevention for our Futures Act (WA): Because hormone health matters
The Safer Sunscreen Bill (HI): Because beauty should be good for us—and the planet
Safer Salon Bill (CA): Because knowledge is everything
Cleaning Product Right to Know Act (CA): Because cleaning products should actually be clean
Toxic-Free Kids Act (OR): Because harmful chemicals have no place in children’s products
Microbead-Free Waters Act: Because plastic doesn’t belong in personal care
Sustainable Chemistry Research and Development Act: Because products are only as good as the ingredients that go in them
