As a Beautycounter Consultant, it can be hard to differentiate yourself as a personal brand, from Beautycounter's brand. Especially when Beautycounter offers resources, assets and other elements that all have their own brand fonts, colours, and style to them.
Luckily, developing a personal brand, is the easiest brand you could ever create, as it is YOU!
The first step, is to honour who YOU are, and to understand the importance of your own identity in your brand. Then we must learn how to steep this identity into all we do to create a brand. For example, if you are an extrovert, and you love showing up and being seen, your brand may look a lot more forward-facing than someone who does not feel comfortable doing that. If you are someone who doesn't like showing up in front of the camera, then you will develop a brand that empowers that. There is ALWAYS a solution.
Being true to who you are is of utmost importance when building a brand as it will establish your brand STRATEGY, which comes next.
Here are a couple tips to extract your own Personal Brand:
What feeling do you want to portray?
What is your own story? And how do people connect to it?
How do you want to show up? Are you comfortable with writing, filming, graphics etc.
What are your values?
What is your mission?
Once you've established a clear understanding of who you are, and how you can show up, we begin building the brand itself by developing a brand kit. Your brand kit includes colours, fonts and aesthetic elements that remain consistent throughout your marketing and business. Although this may just be the beginning of your personal brand, it is a foundation that will help lock in and differentiate yourself from Beautycounter.
From here, building a personal brand is all about finding the rhythm that empowers and sustains you to build your business, your way. I find that if you don't like a certain element of business (for example, making reels) then you can lean into something else, and make it work for you (for example, blogging).
Building a personal brand is entirely about sharing who YOU are, in whatever platform, in whatever way that looks like to you. It's connecting to people by being you, and embracing what makes you unique. It's swearing if you like to swear, it's sharing your lifestyle, it's sharing your quirks. Having your strong boundaries, foundations and values will help carve out what that may look like and lead you to a path that you can follow that feels good.
And HAVE FUN! Your personal brand is just sharing you and people will love it!
