What is therapy, and how does it work?
During therapy sessions, I will employ specific techniques and strategies to help the client gain insight, build coping skills, and effect positive changes. These may include open dialogue, self-reflection, role-playing, and out-of-office assignments.
How do I know if I or my child needs therapy?
Deciding whether you or your child needs therapy is a personal and often subjective process. It's important to remember that therapy is not just for individuals with severe mental health issues; it can be beneficial for a wide range of concerns. Ultimately, the decision to seek therapy is a personal one. If you're unsure, call to schedule an appointment for an initial assessment and consultation. I can help you determine whether therapy is a suitable option for your specific concerns and goals. Remember that reaching out for support is a proactive step toward better mental and emotional well-being.
How long will therapy take?
Ultimately, the length of therapy is a collaborative decision between you and your therapist, and it can be adjusted as needed to meet your evolving needs and goals. The initial intake session will last approximately 60-minutes; subsequent sessions are 45-60 minutes. Appointments are scheduled once per week.
Is therapy confidential?
Maintaining a confidential therapeutic relationship is a cornerstone of effective therapy, and therapists take their commitment to confidentiality seriously. If you have concerns about privacy or questions about the limits of confidentiality, don't hesitate to discuss them with me to ensure that you are comfortable and well-informed throughout the therapy process.
