We have met with a number of playground designers to create a playground that gives a WOW factor and ensures that we cater for children with additional needs.
The design is in its first phase and we have received feedback from stakeholders: children, parents, carers, grandparents, education providers etc. The results of the survey can be found here.
The project will cost up to £250,000 depending on the equipment we wish to install. We see this as a phased project which will be delivered once we achieve each stage of our fundraising goals. For example, a section might be completed once we have raised £25,000 and so on.
Our proposals have been checked by our local council and we are ensuring we use equipment which will be sustainable and comply with health and safety requirements.
Both the council and councillors support our project as they recognise the lack of equipment the park offers to the local community and how much better it would be if we can raise the funds.
The council will continue to maintain any equipment after installation.
A park for the community
We believe that by improving the park on Coronation Road we could really help local businesses such as shops, restaurants and cafes. By increasing the usage of the play area, it will encourage families and groups to visit businesses all on the doorstep and in Crosby Village.
Iron Men Tourism
There are thousands of tourists who visit the Iron Men each year but it seems that there isn't a driving force to encourage them into Crosby Village and spend money in the local economy. It is our hope that by providing a great play facility, families will visit the play area as part of their day out and utilise the restaurants and cafes on Coronation Road, College Road and Crosby Village.
We would like to work with the council to install informative boards near the beach to make visitors aware of the local amenities.
