These are the 51 fraternities included in the 1914 Cornell Yearbook. This was a relatively stable time for the Greek system on campus. The system was mature, undergraduate enrollment was holding steady, and there was nothing to indicate that the disruptions of World War I were coming.
I put notes at the bottom of pages that featured obscure chapters & houses not included on the walking tour.
The yearbook listed fraternities in the order each had established a chapter at Cornell - that year is specified beside each fraternity.
Delta Chi's pictured house is 202 Stewart Avenue which is still standing. A year later they moved to 503 E. Buffalo and finally to their present house on The Knoll.
Skull (1901-1918) became Phi Delta Sigma (1908-1930) which became Phi Kappa Tau. The pictured house is at 308 Wait Avenue next to Clara Dickson Hall.
Alpha Zeta's pictured house was likely at 214 Thurston Avenue, the location of their present house.
Bandhu (1902-1919) like Skull merged into Phi Delta Sigma and later into Phi Kappa Tau. The pictured house is at 106 The Knoll Road and is still used by Phi Kappa Tau.
An educated guess would be that the pictured Theta Xi house was located at 534 Thurston and was replaced by the mansion currently on that sloping lot. It is now being used by Zeta Psi.
Zodiac (1904–1936) was absorbed into ΑΤΩ. The pictured house was at 515 Stewart - now a parking lot.
Zeta Beta Tau was at 109 Summit, off Oak Ave. The house pictured is still standing.
The Alpha Psi house was at 503 E. Buffalo Street, it was a veterinary medicine residential professional society. The house pictured is still standing.
The Acacia house was at 708 E. Seneca, the house is still standing.
The Kappa Psi house is at 200 Willard Way and is still standing. Kappa Psi (1907-1923) was the local that became TKE.
Nayati (1907-1919) was a local that became Delta Sigma Phi (1907-1943).
The house was way out at 400 Highland and is no longer standing.
The Alpha Chi Rho house was at 620 Thurston. That lot is now a parking lot for the welcome center.
Gamma Eta Gamma (1909-1918) was a professional law residential fraternity. Their house is The Oaks at 118 McGraw place. The photo is the original mansion, a private residence that has been altered beyond recognition since it became Phi Gamma Delta's fraternity house.
Sigma Phi Sigma (1910-1941) merged into TKE. The pictured house was at 614 E. Buffalo and is still standing.
According to the 1915-16 city directory Adelphus was at 202 Stewart Avenue. The photo does not match the house at that address. The organization does not appear in any other directory and was probably very short lived.
Alpha Theta (1912 to 1917) was the local that became Pi Kappa Alpha. They moved into this house at 17 South Avenue after Beta Theta Pi moved to a new house on Ridgewood.
Omega Tau Sigma (Professional Veterinary Fraternity) was at 413 Dryden Road. The pictured house is still standing.
Pi Lambda Phi was at 117 Dewitt Place. The pictured house appears to still be standing.
The Long Island Club was at 111 Osmun Place, in the heart of Collegetown. The pictured house is still standing.
Theta Chi (1912-1999) was at 126 Westbourne Lane. By 1940 the house was occupied by Beta Sigma Rho (see 1940 photo below). The house is no longer there although portions may have been incorporated into the Westbourne Apartments.
Eleusis (1912-1931) was at 313 Wait Avenue. It would become Theta Kappa Nu and in 1939 merge into Lambda Chi Alpha.
Photo from the 1940 Cornellian.
The pictured Lambda Chi house at 614 Stewart is still standing.
Omega Delta (1913-1917) was the local that became Sigma Pi. Their pictured house at 636 Stewart is still standing.
