Brian Price grew up playing music with his father, working in funk, R&B, and rock and roll bands throughout his youth. He studied tenor saxophone with Leonard Hochman, who also introduced him to the bass clarinet. After moving to New York for college, he became an activist in a variety of community and labor coalitions, and began collaborating with improvising musicians throughout the city. He later joined the Lost and Wandering Blues Band upon moving to Paris, performing music associated with Billie Holiday, Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, and Fats Waller in France, Italy, and the United States. Having largely foregone formal music studies, several years ago he committed to intensive studying with Cooper-Moore , and they have since performed together in a variety of contexts. Brian currently lives in the Boston area, where he works in educational multimedia production and as a freelance musician. He commutes to New York via Chinatown bus.
