Task

Over the next few CTE weeks, you will become a cookbook reader, reviewer, discussant, creator, cook, and curator.

Task Breakdown:

  1. ANALYTICAL & DESIGN TASK:

Review two separate cookbooks related to a cookbook theme of diversity, ethnicity, & culture. Write two professional/industry-style cookbook reviews using a multimedia PowerPoint template based on these books.

2. DESIGN & COMPILATION TASK:

Apply the personal, ethnic, & cultural approaches used in these cookbooks to a recipe of your own. Write your recipe in a cookbook style. Include an introductory paragraph at the beginning that captures your personal connections to the recipe and its ingredients and/or style of cooking. These recipes will be combined into a class cookbook.

3. CREATIVE PRODUCT TASK:

Cook and serve a recipe of your choosing (your personal one or one from one of your cookbook reviews) in the school's District Restaurant or Cafe. Provide a QR code so that customers can access your cookbook review or recipe. Include pictures of your process of cooking and serving. Take a picture of the QR code on display.

4. COMPILATION TASK:

Organize and curate these Cookbook Culture project materials in order to share and showcase your experience. Compile your cookbook reviews, personal recipe, images & cooking description, and reflection into an Adobe Creative Cloud Express website.
