Conquest Shield 1446 AH Traditional Archery Target Shooting Rules.
The categories, distances, arrow number and target measurement of the target are specified below:
All arrows must be marked or made to be easily differentiated between competitors.
All arrows will be scored after each competition round. The judges will record points.
None of the arrows or the target face shall be touched until the value of all the arrows on that target has been recorded by the competition officials.
If more than the required number of arrows should be found in the target, the highest-scoring arrows won’t be counted. Competitors or teams noticed to repeat this offence may be disqualified.
If a fragment of a target face is missing, including the dividing line or if an arrow pushes aside the dividing line, then an imaginary circular line shall be used.
A rebounded arrow counts as a miss.
In the case of an arrow dangling from the target, the competitors shooting to that target stop shooting and inform the officials once all other competitors who shoot at other targets finish their shots. The Director of Shooting prevents all competitors from reaching their targets to evaluate the issue. Only the official and the competitor with the dangled arrow shall go to the target and note the point of that arrow. They collect the arrow and leave it near the target until they finish shooting at it. They will arrange for the rest of the competitors who couldn't shoot at the time to take turns. While they shoot, no competitor will be on the shooting line.
An arrow passing through another arrow has the same point as the initial arrow.
An arrow that passes straight through the target isn't considered a point.
The competitor may ask that the target be changed.
If an arrow hits the floor and bounces before reaching the target, it will be considered a miss. Officials' decision is final.
If the competitor's arrows land on or shoot at targets other than the one allocated, it will be considered a miss.
Competitors and judges must sign scorecards. All competitors affirm their shots after signing the scorecard.
Every target must have a scorecard. If competitors use an electronic scorecard and discrepancies arise, the paper card will take precedence.
Competitors must stay on the competition field. A competitor absent when the officials announce the results will forfeit their score.

If the scores remain tied, the competitors will shoot another round, and the one whose arrows land closer to the centre of the lower ring will win.

At the time of registration, competitors must indicate which type of historical or traditional attire they have adopted. The grip width at the arrow pass (dīmak) must be at least 15mm thick. Any aim to facilitate, such as sight, sign, tape, etc., is prohibited. The hand holding the grip shall not have any signs or indicators on it, as this will result in disqualification.
The bowstring can be made of any colour and material. A centre string serving may be used with only one nock point (dügül) placed on it. When the competitor is in full draw, the string serving must not be in the competitor's view. Any sign or indicator on the string is also not allowed and will result in disqualification.
We would encourage arrow shafts made of wood or bamboo in the future. However, this year, carbon, fibreglass, or aluminium shafts may be used.

Inspect all fletching to ensure it is suitable, correctly positioned, and secured before the competition.

After the final registration procedure ends, the administrative committee will advise competitors of their divisions.

Set up each target from a vertical angle with approval from the administrative committee.
The Waiting line must be at least 5 meters behind the shooting line.

Not more than three athletes may shoot at the same target simultaneously. If four competitors share one target, they must commence shooting with two competitors at a time (i.e., 2+2).
The shooting line shall have a mark directing to the designated target.
Divide the field of play into shooting lanes with one to four targets in each. Erect suitable barriers to keep spectators at a safe distance. Reduce this distance to a minimum of 10 meters in a straight line from the ends of the shooting line.
No spectators are allowed in front of the shooting line and/or behind the targets.
Once a shoot is in progress, no one will be allowed to enter the range. Failure to comply will result in the immediate stoppage of the shoot.

The judge's decision is final.
Deliberately challenging and/or breaking the said rules will not be tolerated.
Breaking any rules can result in disqualification from the competition and possible banishment from all further competitions.
Minor and unintentional acts will be dealt with with one verbal warning only. If the act is repeated, disqualification takes immediate effect without prejudice.
The Kalkan shield will be awarded to the Conquest Shield 1446 AH competition winner as a floating shield. The winner is entrusted with the shield's care until the next annual competition.
The shield remains the property of Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah and is awarded on a custodial basis only. The winner must return the Kalkan shield in its original condition a month before the following competition.
The winner must take all reasonable steps to care for the Kalkan shield, including maintaining its cleanliness and protecting it from potential damage. The shield should be stored in a safe, secure location, shielded from moisture, heat, and any substances that could lead to deterioration.
If you need professional cleaning or minor maintenance, please report it to Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah, who will arrange the necessary care.
The Kalkan shield must be returned to Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah a month before the next Conquest Shield competition. This allows the shield to be inspected and prepared for the following event.
Failure to return the shield on time may result in penalties or forfeiture of eligibility to participate in future competitions.
If the Kalkan shield is lost or sustains any damage while in the winner's care, the winner must inform Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah immediately.
In minor damage, Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah will assess the repairs needed and may charge the winner a fee for restoration costs. The winner is not permitted to attempt repairs themselves without explicit approval.
If the Kalkan shield is lost, the winner will be financially responsible for replacing it. Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah will determine the replacement cost based on the value of the original shield.
The winner acknowledges that they need to return the Kalkan shield or return it in poor condition to ensure their eligibility to compete in future Conquest Shield competitions.
By accepting the Kalkan shield, the winner agrees to the terms and conditions herein and assumes full responsibility for its safekeeping until the time of its return.
Spectatorship: All spectators must remain within the designated areas and exhibit a code of conduct that is typical of a pious Muslim.
No shouting, screaming, or foul language will be tolerated. Failure to adhere to this will result in the removal of the person or persons involved from the event venue.
No clapping - only Masha'Allāh and Takbīr. No public photography/videography will be allowed per this establishment's rules.
Seating - men and women - spectators stay within the seating areas and safe zones.
Anyone caught in any of the no-go zones (taped-up zones) will be escorted away from the event in progress and possibly from the venue.
Time - all to be on time or risk forfeiting their entry into events and competitions.
Only competitors are allowed at the shooting line.
No arrows are to be nocked until the start signal is given. On some events, you will be allowed to hold arrow(s) in ONE hand, but the arrow must NOT be knocked.
Polite etiquette and mannerisms are expected from all archers. No obscene language, gestures, or anything related to unislamic behaviour will be tolerated. Failure to adhere to this could result in the expulsion of the entire team related to the archer(s).
Ensure your bows and arrows are marked clearly to ensure clarity and facilitate arrow retrieval if they are lost off target.
No walking around with arrowheads up - all arrowheads face the ground.
Bows stay neatly between the team areas and firing lines - no bows on the range.
No running on the maydān - a collection of arrows must be quick but always dignified.
Looking for lost arrows – form a line of people and scan the area in an organized line - 1-minute timeline. To help find arrows faster, have another teammate watch your arrow flight and track the trajectory should it miss the target.
If there is a query at an event - raise your hand to attract the attention of an official.
Non-competing archers - please be seated to avoid obscuring the spectators' vision. Spectators, too, need to be out of the line of sight of archers in action and not keep an eye on the rest of the spectators.
There should be no negative talk. Positive reinforcement between brothers in Islām is needed and will shed Noor upon all hearts. Positive competitiveness is always encouraged in an uplifting manner that promotes unity in the Ummah.
