Throughout this semester, the style of my reading changed considerably. Previously, the way I analyzed text was sort of boilerplate information gathering. I found whatever quote I needed to include to drive my point home, inserted it in the text, and that was it. But now I find myself using various strategies to open the door for various factors and causalities within a text. It opened my eyes to pure context. Rather than looking at information in a vacuum, I looked at information as a piece of a greater whole. In this perspective, the meaning, messaging, causes, and effects of a given point of view and what it means to mean. It allowed for more serious and centralized research on a question that resulted from this analysis. Without the synthesis strategies learned in this class, I would likely still be using the information in a rudimentary manner without trying to get a deeper meaning.
