This data shows the various modes of transportation that students and faculty use to travel both to and from campus.
The bar chart to the right displays common locations accessed using the Otterbus (formerly the Pio) by undergraduate, on-campus students.
Fred Meyer's was rated as the most frequented location, as reported by 58 respondents.
This information is important for gauging the locations that students living on campus access the most. For example, the majority of responses showing Fred Meyer displays the importance of the Otterbus being able to access this destination.

The graph to the left displays the favoured modes of transportation per day of the week amongst students who commute to and from campus.
Students report driving alone as their most preferred mode of transportation on the majority of weekdays, with using a ride share service being the least used option during all days of the week.
The line chart to the right displays the average shuttle riders per day related to the time of the weekday shuttle route. This is important to show when students and faculty are most likely to use the shuttle.
At 19:01 (7:01pm) there is a sharp increase in riders. The shuttle begins stopping at Fred Meyer after 19:01. This sharp uptick in ridership is primarily based on Fred Meyer's popularity, as hihglighted above.

Lewis & Clark Transportation Survey, 2025 (See Appendix C)
The bar chart to the left displays the frequency that Lewis & Clark community members reported using the Otterbus.
According to this part of the survey, most Lewis & Clark community members do not use the Otterbus.
The bar chart to the right displays the frequency that Lewis & Clark community members reported using various mode of transportation.
Accordingly, the transportation modes used least by community memebers are Zip Cars and bikes.
This guides us to the question of why these modes of transportation are the least used amongst students and staff?
Lewis & Clark Transportation Survey, 2025 (See Appendix C)
The following data contains additional statistics concerning the TriMet and L&C Shuttle. The biggest concern when using these public transportation methods was the reliability and timing of the buses. The most common reason students would not use the Otterbus is that they do not have a need for it or it does not travel within their needed range.
The following set of bar graphs contain additional statistics from 2026 regarding which locations students take trips to the most. The majority of rides are taken by off-campus residents, essential shopping and recreation. For off-campus residence, the graph is highly skewed as those who live off campus would presumably take trips back home for the majority of their trips.
