切紙とは切れ込みや穴がある折紙で、折紙よりも幾何的な拘束が少ないため、折るときの自由度やかたちの種類が多いことが特徴的です。長方形パネルが折り目を介して格子状につながった切紙ラティスは、穴を囲む8枚のパネルからなるモジュールの総体であり、穴をつくる辺のうち向かい合う辺が平行またはねじれの位置にあることから、それぞれParallelモードとSkewモードの2つに分類されます。全モジュールがparallelモードをとるとピラミッド階段が、一方で全モジュールが後者のskewモードをとると市松模様タイルが折れます。— 十塚響

Kirigami is an origami with slits or holes. Kirigami is characterized by a greater degree of freedom in folding and a greater variety of shapes since it is less geometrically constrained than origami. Especially, Kirigami lattice, which consists of rectangular panels connected in a grid crease pattern, is the sum of modules with eight panels surrounding a hole.Kirigami lattice is classified into two modes, parallel mode and skew mode, based on the position of the opposing edges of the hole. When all modules are in parallel mode, a pyramid staircase is folded, while when all modules are in skew mode, a checkerboard tile is folded. — Hibiki Totsuka
