Reinforced Concrete & Prestressed Concrete Structure Lab.
University of Seoul
The major areas of the laboratory of Reinforced Concrete Structures and Prestressed Concrete Structures(RC&PSC Lab.) are Reinforced Concrete Structures and Prestressed Concrete Structures, which have been most widely used in buildings and civil structures over the world. The researchers in the RC & PSC Lab. have been conducting a large number of researches on design and analysis methods for various building structures based on understanding of material properties and mechanical behavior of concrete. The fundamental goal of the RC & PSC Lab. is development of optimized structural systems which can maximize the structural performance and economic benefits by accurately estimating the behavior of building structures utilizing many advanced experimental equipments, structural software programs, and coding, etc. With many years of experiences in applied researches and practical projects, this lab has been more focused on design and analysis of pre-tensioned and post-tensioned structures, which can overcome the shortcomings of reinforced concrete structures. Other research interests of this lab also includes; applications of new advanced materials - such as high performance concrete, fiber reinforced polymer concrete, self-consolidating concrete, and environmental friendly concrete - to structures, assessment of existing concrete structures, fracture mechanics, nonlinear finite element analysis, neural networks, fuzzy theory, and expert systems.
