Home to around 790k, The Metroplex, or the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), area of North Texas is the most Democratic district in Texas which explains their chosen House of Representative: Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.
TX-30 is made up of primarily Black and Hispanic people. This explains Jasmine's focus on equality issues such as voting rights, undocumented citizenship, and police brutality.
Crockett falls into her constituent's primary age range at 42 where her constituent's are primarily between the ages of 18-64, with a median age of 33.
The DFW area has a slight female majority. This is represented in Crockett's fight toward the right of freedom and health for all women.
TX-30 has a higher than average poverty level at 18%. The district also has a median income of about $67k which is slightly under the nation's median. Crockett's constituents are made up primarily of people in healthcare, retail, construction, education, and transportation. These statistics explain the congresswoman's support for unions, raising the minimum wage, and that a good paying job is a human right.
The Metroplex is home to many companies such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Southwest Airlines, and AT&T.
TX-30 has been primarily Democratic since its creation. Eddie Bernice Johnson served the district from 1993-2023. After Johnson's retirement, Jasmine won the 2022 election with almost 75% of the vote.
In 2020, Dallas County had a majority of votes toward Biden with over 65% of support. Tarrant County (part of Fort Worth) had less of a majority with 49.3% favoring Biden.
Jasmine seems well connected with her constituents. She is in many of the same demographics as them and her legislative work reflects the general issues they are interested in. She is also privy to her constituents' main concerns: poverty, vote-by-mail, oppressive criminal justice systems, reducing the cost of higher education (which her district is home to many of these institutions), Medicaid expansion, LGBTQIA+ rights, and more. Jasmine's office also provides many services to her constituents such as assisting with federal services, federal grants, community funding, taxes, and providing information on government actions.
Congresswoman Crockett also works to connect with her community online. She seems to focus on her supporters, or those who will likely vote to reelect her, by consistently leaning very left and rarely leaning right to satisfy moderates.
Crockett also works hard, it seems, to connect to Black voters in her district but also across the nation. Jasmine appearing on the Breakfast Club, protesting police brutality, and rarely code switching all show her dedication and relation to her 40% Black and primarily GenZ/Millenial constituency.
