What is Fall Polo? - This is the High School Water Polo Season. Our boys team tends to be small, usually only having a varsity team that plays both varsity and junior varsity level teams.

The most crucial elements we look at when evaluating our student athletes are:

Attendance
Attitude
Ability

The goal of our program is to provide players with the knowledge and skills required to progress in the sport of water polo for recreational or competitive purposes.

Our team is still a growing team so we all practice together at the same time as one Varsity team, although we will play both JV and Varsity opponents. If the team grows, we will split between JV and Varsity teams.

What should I bring? - The official water polo suit is a speedo. Jammers are fine for practice but the speedo is preferred for games.

Goggles are helpful for swimming portions of practice. We will take them off for the polo portions.

Water - Even though we are in the water, it is important to stay hydrated during work outs and games. Always bring water!

Clearance: all athletes must be cleared to participate in athletics through sportsnet.com and must have signed the CHS athletic code.

Communication (BAND APP): We use the app "BAND" and are listed under "CHS BOYS WATER POLO". You can also use this link: https://band.us/n/a6a453V08eL8k. If you have any issues, please ask Coach Brian to be sent an invitation. We use this app to update everyone quickly on last minute changes and to share pictures from games, among other things.

Parent Involvement: Parents, we are going to need your help this year. We do not do very many home games, but when we do, we need help running the game, setting up and cleaning up. Please look to sign up for something once the season begins. It can be fun too!

Team Suits: All players must wear matching suits game day and for picture day. The cost is $36 and can be purchased here:

We will be using the same suit from year to year. First time players please check in with coach before placing an order.

Home Pool

Concord High School does not have it's own pool on campus. I am on the look out for opportunities to change this, through grant funding and petitioning the school/district to build a pool for CHS. It's a long term goal for sure, but an important one. If you feel like joining me on that fight, or have any creative ideas on helping us achieve this goal, please speak up. The more voices we have asking for a pool, the better! But for now, we are grateful for what IS available in the community. MDUSD budgets funds each year for us to rent pool time at Concord Community Park Pool (see map below) during our season. All practices and home games are held here.

STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS

Each student-athlete will conduct themselves with the utmost integrity and class both in and out of the pool.
Each student-athlete must wear team suit for games ($36) Click on the Team Gear tab for purchasing options.
Make sure you are wearing team gear for all games.
On game days the team that plays first will set up the pool. The second team will clean up the pool.
We prefer all student-athletes stay before or after their game to watch the other team play. Athletes can also help run the desk.
Athletes are expected to attend ALL practices and games and arrive on time.
Please arrange doctors, dentist, work, study sessions, and other such appointments around practice and game times. You are all STUDENT-ATHLETES, and we expect you to do both at a high level.
All student-athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 as outlined by CIF, but we encourage you to strive to maintain a 3.0 or better.
Missing a practice may cause an athlete to not start the next game and will possibly not play.
Always remember that you represent yourself, your team, your school, and your community at all times. Please demonstrate great character in the pool, out of the pool, and on social media, and keep in mind that ours is a very small town. As a student-athlete you will be held to a higher standard- whether it is fair or not, it is a fact. Embrace this, and strive to be a leader and an example in our community.
For home games at Concord Community Park Pool, we will need parent volunteers to help with running the clocks, the game book and the scoreboard.
