The CCAC distributes a profile survey at the beginning of each year that gauges where the student is at with their post-secondary planning. According to the CCAC data at the beginning of their senior year, on average, 69.7% of seniors want to attend college, and on average 1.3% of seniors want to attend a trade school.
The CCAC distributes a post-secondary survey at the end of each year to gauge what students have decided to do post-high school. According to this CCAC data, on average, 26.3% of seniors want to attend a 2-year college, 51.4% want to attend a 4-year college, and on average 5.8% of seniors want to attend a trade school, certificate program, or an apprenticeship. Well over half of the seniors want to continue their education.
The CCAC offers students the same career pathways to indicate what they feel best aligns with their goals at the end of the year. Engineering, Human Services, and Health care are still the top choices. There is an average of 13.5% of students who don't know what field they want to go into by the time they graduate.
The CCAC asks seniors what is the highest level of education they would like to complete at the end of the year, too. As it is displayed many students still want to go beyond high school to get some type of credential. On average 78.5% of seniors each year want to continue their education after high school. This average increasing by 10.8% from the profile survey.
