CRAM Summary
The constant increase in complexity of systems, coupled with the aim of optimising local staff training, means that most manufacturers rely on small teams of dedicated, multi-skilled engineers to deal with problems.
This has many advantages, as the vast majority of failures, be they equipment or process, can be quickly tracked to obviously faulty devices, and hence locally repaired by using a combination of skills.
However, some problems require more specialist knowledge, and this is very expensive to maintain as a rarely used resource.
Concept can now offer a method of accessing the top level of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) support, directly to your equipment. This is specifically tailored to allow very rapid diagnosis and repair of many complex problems, and will normally result in a rapid (sometimes temporary) repair, with the follow through of a series of suggestions as to long term solutions.
The initial systems are being developed for Bakery and Distillery Creamed Yeast Plants, where we are not only providing the advanced support capability, but also a user friendly Cloud Access system.
The Cloud Access, allows authorised users to log in and monitor key processes using most Web Enabled devices. Thus an Engineer or Process Specialist can access the system HMIs and SCADAs to evaluate a reported problem without the physical need to attend site. This has enormous benefits, both for the specialist and for the production capability. Time is no longer wasted when a problem occurs, whilst the specialist establishes the detail of process settings etc. from the operator on site, and then is forced to travel there before any corrective action can be taken.
A further advantage is that stock levels, production rates, and other key plant data is available at all times, to all authorised users. This has clear advantages for planning and utilisation of resources, where data is often delayed between collection and presentation.
A further advantage of the Concept Remote Access Management (CRAM), is that we regularly access the equipment within the scheme, and perform an Offsite Backup of programmes and data, thus providing a disaster recovery system.
Overall this exciting new option, allows any user to benefit as though they have permanently employed the specialist engineering for controls and process control, but at a fraction of the costs of direct employment.
